Your new job

We are seeking a motivated Data Engineer to join our fast-paced start-up team. In this role, you will support the development and maintenance of our data infrastructure, contributing to the design of data architecture, building and optimizing data pipelines, managing our data warehouse, and ensuring data quality across the entire data lifecycle. You will work closely with our product manager, software engineers, and data scientists to ensure our data is accurate, reliable, and aligned with business needs, helping to drive data-informed decisions for our customers.

Responsibilities

• You design, implement and maintain robust, scalable and efficient data ingestion and transformation pipelines, processing large scale open geospatial data.
• You develop and maintain the cloud architecture as well as the data warehouse to ensure high performance and scalability.
• You ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across various platforms and systems.
• You create data model, data mapping, and data lineage documentation.
• You generate data insights and reports.
• You collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their data requirements and ensure data meets their needs.
• You take ownership of architecture decisions, balancing innovation with practical considerations.

• You hold a degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field or comparable working experience.
• You have professional experience with the Azure cloud data environment.
• You have professional experience in designing, implementing and maintaining scalable and efficient ETL pipelines.
• You possess strong Python skills (pandas, numpy, dask, and other relevant libraries).
• You have first experienced with transforming data in PySpark for handling large datasets.
• You have solid RDBMS skills and experience with database management (PostgreSQL/Oracle/MSSQL).
• You have strong sense of responsibility, with the ability to tackle both high-level design and nitty-gritty data issues.
• You proved your ability to document and explain complex technical concepts.
• You have strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• (Bonus) Experience with geospatial data is a plus (PostGIS, QGIS, Apache Sedona etc.).
• (Bonus) Experience working in a start-up environment.
