VP of Corporate Compliance & Legal (Hybrid role, not fully remote)

Role Overview

This role holds overall responsibility for Legal, Compliance, Corporate Governance, and Data Privacy across an international technology group. As a trusted advisor to executive management and the Board, the position combines strategic leadership with hands-on legal guidance in a complex, matrix organization.

You will lead a global team of approximately 25--28 professionals and drive the continued modernization of the legal function, including digitalization, automation, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. The role ensures strong governance and regulatory compliance across all national and international entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement group-wide strategies for Legal, Compliance, Corporate Governance, and Data Privacy
• Lead and develop an international team of managers and experts within a matrix structure
• Proactively identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, and data protection risks
• Design, implement, and continuously improve the Compliance Management System and data privacy framework
• Act as primary contact for regulators, auditors, and key internal stakeholders
• Advise executive management and business units on strategic and operational legal matters
• Support complex contract negotiations and cross-functional initiatives
• Oversee extrajudicial and judicial disputes
• Drive digital transformation initiatives, including Legal Tech and AI applications

Requirements

Education & Languages

• Fully qualified lawyer (German First and Second State Examination) or equivalent internationally recognized law degree
• Business-fluent German and English required

Experience & Expertise

• Extensive senior leadership experience in an international corporate legal environment or leading law firm, ideally in a technology-driven industry
• Proven experience leading international teams and managing managers (25 headcount) in matrix organizations
• Strong expertise in Corporate Governance, Compliance, Data Privacy (GDPR), and IT-related contract law
• Demonstrated experience modernizing legal functions, with affinity for Legal Tech and AI
