Engineer (m/w/d) in the "Hazardous Substance Emission" department

We are the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV), the umbrella organization of the nine commercial employers' liability insurance associations and 24 accident insurance funds in Germany. Your future team:

The Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IFA) primarily supports the statutory accident insurance institutions in scientific and technical questions regarding safety and health at work. The tasks are diverse: research, development, investigation and testing of products and material samples are just as much a part of it as operational measurements, consulting, participation in standardization and regulation, and the provision of specialist information and expert knowledge. As an engineer in our "Hazardous Substance Emission" department, you are responsible for the development of new investigation methods and test facilities. You will also be responsible for carrying out complex safety-related tests on machines and equipment for air purification and on filter media for separating hazardous substances from the air.

Further tasks include:

  • Independent application of the test principles as well as the preparation and follow-up of the test facility and tools
  • Documentation of test results and correspondence with clients
  • Implementation of QM measures in the test laboratory including checking, adjustment and maintenance of measuring and test equipment
  • Participation in research projects to reduce hazardous substance exposure in the workplace
  • Publications in (inter)national journals as well as giving presentations at events and seminars

Your profile:

  • Completed university degree (Bachelor or Diploma-FH) in engineering, preferably process engineering, or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Sound knowledge in the field of fluid mechanics as well as in the field of measurement, control and regulation technology
  • Experience in the field of product testing and certification as well as in quality management is desirable
  • Good MS Office skills
  • Very good German language skills, both written and spoken (at least level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Good English language skills, both written and spoken (at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Manual dexterity and enjoyment of working with machines and tools
  • Willingness to travel for several days

Start: immediately

Scope of employment: Full-time, part-time possible

Salary: up to EG 11 BG-AT (depending on personal and collective bargaining requirements)

Fixed-term: Unlimited
