Engineer (m/f/d) in the "Hazardous Substance Emission" department

Your Future Team

The Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IFA) primarily supports the statutory accident insurance institutions with scientific and technical issues relating to occupational safety and health. The tasks are diverse: Research, development, examination, and testing of products and substance samples are part of this, as are on-site measurements, consulting, participation in standardization and regulation, and the provision of expert information and knowledge.

Your Tasks

As an engineer in our "Hazardous Substance Emission" department, you will be responsible for the development of new testing procedures and testing equipment. This also includes carrying out complex safety engineering tests on machines and devices for air purification as well as on filter media.

  • Independent application of testing standards and preparation and follow-up of the test facility and tools
  • Documentation of test results and correspondence with clients
  • Implementation of QM measures in the testing laboratory, including checking, adjusting, and maintaining measuring and testing equipment
  • Participation in research projects to reduce hazardous substance exposure in the workplace
  • Publications in (inter)national journals and presentations at events and seminars

Your Profile

  • Completed university studies (Bachelor or Diplom-FH) in engineering, preferably process engineering, or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Sound knowledge in the field of fluid mechanics and in the field of measurement, control, and regulation technology
  • Experience in the field of product testing and certification as well as in quality management is desirable
  • Good MS Office skills
  • Very good German language skills, both written and spoken (at least C2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Good English language skills, both written and spoken (at least C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Manual dexterity and enjoyment of working with machines and tools
  • Willingness to undertake multi-day business trips
