Ensure release quality with real ownership -- as a QA Engineer at foobar
foobar Agency GmbH is a digital agency for companies that want more than polished interfaces. We build digital products and platforms that stand the test of real life --- measurable, maintainable, and purpose-driven.
We work interdisciplinarily, pragmatically, and data-driven: close to our clients, close to the team --- and taking responsibility beyond the launch. From the first idea through go-live and cutover to continuous improvement.
Your role
As a Quality Assurance Engineer (m/f/d), you ensure that the quality of our digital products and services remains consistently high throughout the entire delivery process. You actively contribute to shaping and evolving our QA strategy and testing approaches for mid-sized and larger projects, support both manual and automated testing, and help foster a strong culture of quality across all phases of development.
You work closely with Product, Development, UX/Design, and relevant stakeholders, define acceptance criteria, establish reliable test cycles, and provide transparent reporting on quality, risks, and key KPIs.
Your responsibilities
- Contribute to QA strategy and test approaches --- aligned with the project context, pragmatic, and scalable
- Anchor quality early (shift-left mindset) by defining acceptance criteria, test scope, and quality goals together with Product, Development, and UX
- Manage test cycles and release readiness --- manual and automated testing, including regression/UAT/smoke tests, test data, and environments (DEV/QA/STAGE/PROD)
- Safeguard go-lives and acceptances --- including go-live checks and clean handover into operations and further development
- Further develop test automation (e.g. Cypress, Playwright), integrated into delivery workflows; keep E2E and API scenarios maintainable
- Make quality visible and actionable --- through risks, status updates, KPIs, and clear recommendations; escalate early when stability or scope is at risk
- Use tools for traceability and transparency --- e.g. Jira/Xray, Qase, or comparable solutions for tests and bugs
Your profile
Must-haves:
- Experience in QA/test management for digital products or software projects
- Hands-on experience with QA strategies and test concepts (setup, rollout, scaling in projects)
- Experience in test automation (e.g. Cypress, Playwright, or comparable tools)
- Confident use of test and project tools (e.g. Jira + Xray/Qase or similar)
- Solid understanding of agile, cross-functional collaboration
- Structured, pragmatic working style --- including risk assessment, prioritisation, and decision support
- Very good communication skills in English and good skills inGerman
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with internationalisation/localisation
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG)
- Experience testing complex eCommerce/business logic (e.g. checkout, promotions, country-specific rules)
- Exposure to performance and end-to-end testing
