With around 190 highly qualified employees at our locations in Munich, Oberpfaffenhofen and Regensburg, we combine many years of experience with extensive expertise in microelectronics and microsystems technology. Our wide range of technologies spans from advanced semiconductor processes and MEMS technologies to innovative 3D integration and flexible electronics.
These nano and microtechnologies form the foundation of our diverse fields of expertise, which include sensor technology, circuit design, system solutions with AI, analysis and testing, as well as micropumps.
Through the close collaboration of our experts, not only groundbreaking innovations arise, but also synergies that enable Fraunhofer EMFT to effectively tackle the complex challenges of our time.
At CAELIA Health, we are building the data and AI foundation for precision respiratory medicine.

- Integration into a large scientific network with a structured onboarding program
- Individual and extensive training opportunities and career boosters for your professional and personal development, e.g. opportunities for a doctorate or participation in the Fraunhofer TALENTA Women's promotion program
- Work-life balance through flexible working time models, With-Child office, hybrid working and many other offers
- Good transport connections and a discounted job ticket with employer subsidy
The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis. Your Tasks
This is not a "maintenance" role. You will help define what is possible when high-quality sensor data, machine learning, and privacy-first architectures come together in healthcare.
Be part of change As CDO, you own CAELIA's data and AI backbone. Your success will be measured by how well our data platform enables better products, better models, and ultimately better outcomes for patients.
- Build and scale CAELIA's data & AI platform
- Define and implement the end-to-end data strategy: from data ingestion to model training and deployment
- Turn complex, sensitive respiratory and sensor data into robust, explainable, and clinically meaningful insights
- Enable privacy-preserving learning approaches (e.g. Federated Learning) across partners and studies
- Work closely with hardware, software, and clinical teams to bring models into real-world products
- Ensure interoperability (FHIR / HL7), data quality, and regulatory readiness (GDPR, MDR)
- Design and evolve scalable data architectures for medical and sensor data
- Develop ML pipelines and MLOps workflows suitable for regulated environments
- Lead model lifecycle management: validation, monitoring, explainability, and iteration
- Establish data governance, security, and privacy-by-design principles
- Collaborate on clinical studies, pilots, and real-world evidence generation
- Translate product and clinical questions into data and model requirements
Being successful in this role means building systems that others can trust - clinicians, regulators, partners, and patients alike.
What you contribute

- Experience working with sensitive data (health, medical devices, IoT, research, or similar domains) is a plus
- Solid understanding of cloud architectures and ML-Ops (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with privacy-preserving or distributed learning approaches (e.g. Federated Learning)
- Comfort operating in regulated or safety-critical environments
- Clear communicator who enjoys working across disciplines
