Your Role in Shaping the Future of IoT

Are you passionate about driving the global scale-up of advanced Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) technologies? Join our international team at Fraunhofer IIS as the Managing Director for the mioty® program. You will be instrumental in developing cutting-edge wireless data transmission technologies like mioty®, a leading LPWAN standard used in smart metering, smart cities, industrial IoT, logistics, and environmental monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Global Strategy & Growth: Shape and drive the global growth of mioty®, including strategic commercialization, go-to-market approaches, and building a robust international ecosystem. Strengthen its worldwide positioning, brand, and value proposition across key verticals.
  • Strategic Partnership Building: Establish, maintain, and manage trusted relationships with industrial partners, public institutions, technology providers, and global enterprise stakeholders within the mioty® ecosystem.
  • Create Industry Impact: Promote mioty® in high-level industry forums, policy and regulatory bodies, alliances, and standardization groups.
  • Empowering Leadership: Guide the Fraunhofer IIS mioty® team across business development, marketing, and engineering functions.
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee financial management, including budgeting, commercial operating models, and reporting.
  • Governance and Innovation Management: Ensure sustainable governance, IP and licensing frameworks, long-term competitiveness, compliance, and innovation in close coordination with Fraunhofer IIS leadership.

What You Bring to the Table

  • A university degree in (Industrial-)Engineering, Business Administration, or a comparable field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of executive leadership experience in IoT, telecommunications, wireless technologies, deep-tech, or related innovation-driven industries.
  • An established network of contacts across authorities and government entities, with the ability to represent the company at senior executive and political levels.
  • A proven track record in building and scaling global sales and go-to-market structures, including channel development, partner ecosystems, and multinational revenue organizations.
  • Experience in establishing and expanding strategic partnerships with OEMs, carriers, cloud providers, system integrators, and global enterprise customers.
  • A solid understanding of IoT connectivity, embedded systems, LPWAN technologies, RF systems, and cloud architecture and security.
  • An entrepreneurial, impact-oriented mindset with the ability to convert technological strengths into scalable global business models.
  • Willingness to travel globally on a regular basis, including frequent intercontinental travel for partner expansion, executive meetings, industry events, and on-site strategic engagements.
  • Fluent English and German (spoken and written). Additional languages such as Mandarin, Spanish, or French are a strong advantage.

The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of extension. The standard work week is 39 hours.
