Social Media Manager*in (m/w/d)
(E 11 TV-G-U)
Position to be filled as part of a maternity leave and subsequent parental leave cover. The classification is based on the job specifications of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U).
Do you speak fluent Instagram, are at home on LinkedIn, and can you list the pros and cons of Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads in your sleep? Do you enjoy interacting with diverse target groups and find presenting black holes on social media just as exciting as colorful campus life? Do you enjoy creating content with words, images, and videos and are eager to collaborate in a dedicated team? If so, you are most welcome in the Office of PR and Communication, where you will manage the university's central social media accounts together with colleagues.
We Expect:
- A completed university degree in online communication or a comparable course of study.
- Several years of proven experience in social media and web communication, including community management, ideally within a university context.
- A basic understanding of the interplay between different administrative units.
- A cross-media mindset and journalistic flair are advantageous.
- Very good knowledge of MS Office programs, image editing and graphic design programs, and various content management systems are essential for successfully fulfilling your tasks.
- You also possess strong communication skills, a confident demeanor, and a team-oriented approach to work.
Your Tasks Include:
- Independent management of the university's existing central social media accounts.
- Target group-oriented preparation of topics and content for social media presences, development of new suitable formats.
- Production of image and video content.
- Coverage of selected events for social media.
- Systematic, independent community management, community expansion, and channel monitoring.
- Conceptual sharpening and further development of existing social media channels, and potentially the exploration of new ones, with a view to internal and external target groups and the university's communication strategy.
- Maintaining interfaces with departments, administrative units, central institutions, and institutes of the university and their social media channels.
- Development of suitable campaigns to showcase the university and its unique selling points.
- Support for the university's executive board in using existing and new online and social media activities for the dissemination of strategic topics.
- Support for colleagues in the Office of PR and Communication in implementing social media formats.
- Advising other university units and individuals on the appropriate use of social media for specific target groups.
