ABOUT THE JOB

As our UI Technical Artist at Gunzilla Games, you will be the crucial link between UI/UX design, art, and engineering.

You will aim to implement and optimise engaging, immersive, and functional user interfaces in Unreal Engine 5.

You will collaborate with world-class talent to ensure that our UI looks stunning and performs flawlessly across all platforms while working on our game OTG (Off The Grid), our brand-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter currently available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S, and PC.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As our UI Technical Artist, you will:

  • Implement in-game UI assets (menus, HUDs, overlays, widgets) using Unreal Engine 5 (UMG, Slate, Blueprints).
  • Integrate UI animations, visual effects, and transitions to enhance gameplay readability and immersion.
  • Work closely with UI/UX designers and engineers to translate wireframes and prototypes into fully interactive experiences.
  • Optimise UI performance for all supported platforms (PC, console).
  • Build reusable UI components and workflows for scalability and iteration.
  • Debug and resolve UI-related bugs and engine integration issues.
  • Collaborate with the Tech Art and Tools teams to develop in-editor tools that streamline UI implementation and testing.
  • Support localisation, input remapping, and accessibility implementation in UI.
  • Document workflows and create best practices for future UI production.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 years of experience in a UI Technical Artist or equivalent role on at least one shipped game (preferably AAA).
  • Expert knowledge of Unreal Engine 4/5, including UMG, Blueprints, and Slate.
  • Solid scripting knowledge (Blueprint, basic C++) for UI integration and behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of UI performance profiling and optimisation (materials, draw calls, atlases, DPI scaling).
  • Experience working with animations, timelines, and visual scripting.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across disciplines.

PLUSSES

  • Experience working on extraction shooters or multiplayer FPS titles.
  • Knowledge of shader development for UI (e.g., masking, distortion, glows).
  • Experience with console certification and platform-specific UI constraints.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX pipelines in distributed development environments.
  • Passion for pushing the envelope in player interface design and interactivity.
