About Iteration One
Iteration One is a self-funded, independent gaming studio in Karlsruhe, Germany. With Nightclub Tycoon, a free-to-play idle tycoon game on iOS and Android, we've built a game played by millions with a small team and no outside money.
We are a team of 7 people and are growing. We are looking for a software engineer excited about the future of game development, where AI handles repetitive tasks, allowing engineers to focus on critical thinking, architecture, and decision-making.
Tasks
What You'll Do
- Work across the full development cycle (pre-production to live operations) in a small, cross-functional team.
- Write and optimize C# in Unity.
- Build efficient and reusable systems.
- Ensure code is maintainable and collaborative.
- Utilize AI tools like Codex or Claude Code daily as a core part of your workflow.
- Contribute to coding standards and design documents.
- Help the team increase speed and efficiency.
- Have significant influence over product development and methodology, with no ticket queues or permission delays.
Requirements
What We're Looking For
- Strong professional background in C# and Unity, with live game experience (depending on level).
- Ability to write clean, understandable, and well-documented code.
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable working with design, production, and art teams.
- Ability to estimate timelines and deliver accordingly.
- Understanding of mobile development for Android and iOS.
- Passion for technology and AI.
Nice to Have
- Deep knowledge of Unity pipelines (asset management, UI, networking).
- Experience with reactive programming (UniRx).
- Proven track record of resolving memory and performance issues.
