About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Sales & Technical Specialist to join our team, focusing on the Medical Packaging Segment. This integrated role combines technical expertise in nonwoven/sterile barrier materials with commercial acumen, supporting the development of our global presence in the medical device manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will bridge technical, regulatory, and sales functions, providing end-to-end support to customers and internal teams, while driving business growth and ensuring compliance with global medical packaging standards.
Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify and develop business opportunities with medical device manufacturers and medical packaging converters globally.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering, QA, regulatory, and purchasing teams at customer organizations.
- Support OEM customers and distributors across the assigned global regions to drive sales growth.
- Monitor market trends in medical device packaging materials and provide feedback to internal technical and product teams to inform product development.
Technical Support & Expertise
- Provide technical expertise on nonwoven and barrier materials used in medical packaging and sterile barrier systems.
- Advise customers on material selection for sterile barrier systems, explain performance characteristics of packaging materials, and provide technical documentation and product specifications.
- Support product performance evaluation, application development, and assist customers with packaging validation considerations.
- Provide technical training to internal and external stakeholders, addressing questions related to packaging performance and material applications.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Support discussions and ensure compliance with global regulatory frameworks for medical packaging, including ISO 11607, EN 868, EU MDR, and FDA packaging requirements (where relevant).
- Provide guidance on regulatory requirements and validation principles for medical packaging, assisting with documentation related to material compliance, validation requirements, and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure materials meet performance, validation, and regulatory requirements for healthcare applications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal sales, product, and technical teams to align technical expertise with commercial goals.
- Provide technical insights into new applications in the medical sector to support product innovation and market expansion.
Qualifications
- Degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Textile Engineering, or a related field (PhD preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: medical device manufacturing, medical packaging, sterile barrier systems, flexible packaging for healthcare products, or nonwoven materials for medical applications.
- Strong understanding of sterile medical packaging requirements, market trends, and regulatory frameworks (ISO 11607, EN 868, EU MDR, etc.).
- Proven experience interacting with QA, regulatory affairs, and packaging engineering teams.
- Strong connections within the medical device or medical packaging industry is a plus.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in French, German, or Spanish is an additional advantage.
- Ability to clearly explain technical and regulatory concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of ISO 11607 validation requirements and experience with sterilization processes (ETO, gamma, steam, plasma, etc.).
- Deep technical background in nonwoven materials, polymers, or packaging engineering, with hands-on experience in medical packaging applications.
- Experience working with regulatory affairs or quality teams to ensure compliance and support regulatory submissions.
- Proven track record in technical sales or technical support within the medical packaging segment.
