Job Number: MER0003Z0H

Responsibilities

The Mercedes-Benz Group AG is one of the most successful automotive companies in the world. With Mercedes-Benz AG and the business units Mercedes-Benz Cars, Mercedes-Benz Vans, and Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG, the vehicle manufacturer is one of the largest and most successful providers of premium passenger cars.

In Group Research & Mercedes-Benz Cars Development (RD), we are shaping the car generations of the future. By this, we mean innovative products with the highest quality and safety standards, as well as efficient development processes. We are already working today on vehicles that will secure the technological leadership of the Mercedes-Benz Group in the future.

Our department "Testing Components & Assemblies - Battery" (RD/EPA) is responsible for the entire battery testing for all model series. As the "Testing Battery Safety and Mechanics" team, we support our fully electric test vehicles from the initial concept validation through to series release, covering the complete safety certification.

In this role, we are leading the execution and design of test bench trials, testing cells, modules, and entire batteries with control units thoroughly. In addition to hardware, software validation is also a significant testing task in the safety environment. Thus, we ensure transparency about the maturity level of the test objects on our internal and external test benches.

Parallel to series certifications, we also support various pre-development projects. Our goal is to test as realistically as possible, to carry out safety validation and functional testing efficiently, to process results in a targeted manner, and to expand and utilize our testing expertise to help shape the future of electromobility together with the specialist departments.

As an intern, you will work with us on the following topics, in addition to experiencing our safety tests firsthand:

  • Hardware-related development and adaptation of battery measuring technology, including fault analysis
  • Printed circuit board design
  • Design and selection of components
  • Programming
  • Conception and development of VBA-based Excel tools for automating data acquisition and evaluation processes
  • Support for test engineers in their daily work

The internship can begin in September 2026.

Qualifications

  • Studies with a technical focus (e.g., Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics)
  • Very good German language skills, both written and spoken
  • Programming skills in C
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering
  • Analytical and strategic thinking and working style
  • Flexibility and a high degree of commitment
  • High sense of responsibility and quality awareness
  • Good communication skills and enjoyment of teamwork
  • Driver's license class B

Please note that your internship at this location must include a mandatory component.
