Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Retention Specialist focused on driving customer retention and lifetime value through strategic email and lifecycle marketing campaigns. This role involves developing, optimizing, and analyzing email flows, segmentation strategies, and engagement tactics to maximize repeat purchases and customer loyalty. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of email marketing, automation, and data-driven personalization, with experience in eCommerce and performance-driven retention strategies.

As our Retention Specialist you'll help drive customer retention and lifetime value through targeted email and lifecycle marketing campaigns, optimizing flows, segmentation, and engagement strategies. This role requires expertise in email marketing, automation, and data-driven personalization to maximize repeat purchases and customer loyalty in a performance-driven eCommerce environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Email Marketing Strategy: Develop and execute lifecycle email campaigns, including welcome series, post-purchase flows, win-back campaigns, and promotions.
  • Segmentation & Personalization: Use customer data to create targeted segments and personalized messaging to enhance engagement and retention.
  • A/B Testing & Optimization: Continuously test subject lines, content, send times, and audience targeting to improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversions.
  • Performance Analysis: Track and analyze email marketing KPIs (e.g., open rates, CTR, conversion rates, revenue per email) and provide insights for optimization.
  • Automation & Workflow Management: Build and refine automated email sequences using tools like Klaviyo, Braze, or Iterable to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with creative, paid media, and eCommerce teams to align retention strategies with broader marketing initiatives.
  • Compliance & Deliverability: Ensure best practices in email compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR) and maintain high email deliverability rates.
  • Customer Journey Insights: Leverage data to understand customer behavior, pain points, and opportunities for deeper engagement.
  • Design Strategy & Execution: Experience in design best practices and familiar with cloud-based design tools like Figma or Adobe Creative Suite.

Requirements

  • 3--5 years of experience in email marketing, retention, or lifecycle marketing in a DTC, eCommerce, or performance-driven environment.
  • Experience working with international markets and/or multilingual campaigns.
  • Expertise in email platforms like Klaviyo, Braze, Iterable, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using Google Analytics, Looker, or other BI tools to track performance.
  • Experience with A/B testing, segmentation strategies, and automation workflows.
  • Understanding of customer retention metrics like CLV, churn rate, and repeat purchase rate.
  • Strong copywriting and creative direction skills for email content and design.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple campaigns in a fast-paced environment.
