About you and the role

This is a key role within Newton's R&D team. You will be responsible for the development of our delivery drone. You should be a generalist with excellent knowledge of drone design and configuration, but also with knowledge of drone related technologies such as control systems, all kinds of sensor technology, communication technology, etc. It is important that you are able to coordinate and delegate tasks to internal and external resources, but also that you are able to "do things yourself". You will work in an interdisciplinary team, so communication skills are also important.

What you will do

• Technical design and configuration of the drone based on technical requirements, regulatory requirements, cost objectives, and business requirements
• Concept and design of aerodynamic components
• Selection components and modules
• Definition of materials and manufacturing processes
• Identification, calculation and determination of relevant parameters for stability and control
• Internal introduction of simulation and design tools
• Setting cost targets at system, module, component and part level in close collaboration with business requirements
• Selection and coordination of external partners, institutes and suppliers

What we expect

Basic Qualifications

• Aerospace Engineering
• Simulation and design tools
• At least three years experience in fixed wing VTOL

Preferred Qualifications

• Machine learning, artificial intelligence in the area of design and sensor technology
• Embedded software, realtime, safety, security and control engineering
• Experience in Drone Design

Language skills

• German
• English

• Participate in person in important and regular events such as workshops, demos, plannings, retrospectives, etc.

• Synchronize and share your home office / office times always with your team
• Let the team know if you need special times at home
