About Retorna
Retorna is a fintech company revolutionizing remittances and cross-border payments in Latin America. We process over 20,000 daily transactions, connecting the world and moving millions of dollars that directly impact families and businesses in the region.
We are a 100% remote team spread across different countries. You won't find empty buzzwords or forced "startup culture" here. Instead, you'll encounter real technical challenges, a team that values honesty, and genuine autonomy to make impactful technical decisions.
At Retorna, Salesforce isn't just a decorative CRM for contacts; it's critical operational infrastructure. When Salesforce fails or slows down, it directly impacts our revenue and the experience of thousands of users who trust us to send money to their families.
We need someone who not only "knows Salesforce" but understands how to maintain a mission-critical system under real-world load in a regulated fintech environment.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
- Lead a team of 3-4 engineers (admins + developers).
- Define architecture, design patterns, and technical standards.
- Conduct rigorous code reviews.
- Mentor in Apex, LWC, integrations, and performance optimization.
We expect you to be the top technician on the team, capable of unblocking complex problems directly, with your hands on the code when necessary.
Advanced Administration:
- Manage environments (dev/sandbox/prod) with a clear deployment strategy and CI/CD.
- Automate critical operational processes: reconciliations, KYC/AML validations, alerts.
- Data governance: eliminate duplicates, ensure quality, execute secure migrations.
- Configure security layers, profiles, permissions, and financial compliance.
Apex Development with Architectural Criteria:
- Write/review Apex: well-designed triggers, batch jobs, queueables, REST/SOAP APIs.
- Optimize SOQL queries and manage governor limits under a real daily volume of 20K+ transactions.
- Integrate Salesforce with external systems: AWS Lambda, banking APIs, Heroku, compliance services.
- Achieve real test coverage that detects bugs, not just meets the 75% threshold.
Resolve Critical Infrastructure Issues:
- Diagnose real bottlenecks.
- Propose viable technical solutions considering cost/complexity/time trade-offs.
- Implement proactive monitoring and alerts to notify us before users report problems.
Requirements
Mandatory Technical Skills:
- Advanced Apex: Well-designed triggers with trigger frameworks, async processing (batch/queueable/future), rigorous limit management, recursion prevention, robust error handling.
- Expert Salesforce Admin: Complex multi-step flows, process automation, large-scale data management, deep security model understanding.
- Integrations: REST/SOAP APIs, Platform Events, Heroku Connect, middleware patterns, OAuth/JWT.
- Lightning Web Components: Beyond basic customization, understand lifecycle hooks, performance optimization, and component communication.
- Governor Limits under Real Load: Optimize SOQL queries, efficient bulk operations, caching strategies.
Architecture and Design:
- Domain-Driven Design Awareness: Understand how to model complex financial domains (Payments, Reconciliations, KYC, AML).
- Separation of Concerns: Avoid putting all logic into a 2000-line trigger without structure.
- Error Handling and Resilience: Retry strategies, idempotency, structured logging, circuit breakers.
Real Technical Leadership:
- Provide direct and constructive feedback.
- Make technical decisions by explicitly evaluating trade-offs.
- Document architecture in a useful manner.
- Prioritize with sound judgment.
Current Tech Stack:
- Salesforce: Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, massive custom objects for transaction management.
- Heroku Connect: Synchronization with Postgres (currently experiencing latency issues).
- AWS: Lambda, RDS, S3, EventBridge for integrations with financial services.
- Observability: DataDog (partial), needs expansion to Salesforce for better visibility.
- Methodology: Scrum, 2-week sprints, Notion for technical documentation.
Benefits:
Modality and Location:
- 100% remote from any country.
- Team distributed across multiple time zones.
- Strategic synchronous meetings, asynchronous work by default.
- Clear expectations, direct feedback, zero micromanagement but with real accountability.
What We Offer:
- Complex and real technical problems.
- Autonomy to make impactful technical decisions.
- Unlimited Paid Time Off.
- An environment of honest and direct feedback.
- 100% remote work with flexible hours within reasonable zones.
- Opportunity to build critical infrastructure in a high-growth fintech.
