Job Description
Data Domain Manager (m/w/d)
Location: 50933 Köln | Contract Type: Full/part-time, permanent | Job ID: 911397
What we are planning together:
As the Data business unit, we are part of the Executive Board department Digital & Technology and bundle all strategic, analytical, and business-supporting data functions under one roof. Our goal: To position the data domain of REWE Handel Deutschland as modern, future-proof, and value-oriented. In close cooperation with the business departments, we drive the standardization and scaling of data-supported solutions - with innovative technologies, clear governance structures, and a strong focus on business impact. We create the basis for well-founded decisions and pave the way for a data-driven organization. Become part of this transformation - and help us reshape the data domain!
What you will achieve with us:
Take on the key role of Data Product Manager (m/f/d) and shape the future of our data products in a modern and collaborative (cloud) environment. You will implement the Data Mesh architecture with state-of-the-art technologies and make a significant contribution to maximizing the value of our data. Your expertise will enable the development and optimization of analytical use cases, the improvement of processes, and the advancement of our AI solutions - all with the goal of making our data products future-proof.
- Take responsibility: You will continuously define and develop data products and significantly shape the data landscape within your data domain.
- Shape collaboration: In close coordination with the Product Data Owners, you will coordinate cross-domain dependencies and ensure smooth interaction of the data products.
- Prioritize strategically: Together with the Data Product Owner, you will be responsible for prioritizing the data product backlog and contribute to consistent alignment with corporate goals.
- Actively live governance: You will actively participate in the Data Governance Council, coordinate the introduction and implementation of relevant guidelines, and promote the sharing of best practices within the data domain.
- Take on leadership: You will delegate tasks to Data Stewards and Product Owner Data, manage governance and collaboration processes in the data catalog, and drive continuous optimization.
- Shape innovation: You will actively develop our Data Mesh concept and take responsibility for data quality, transparency, and reusability along the Data Mesh architecture.
What convinces us:
- First and foremost, your personality: Your strong communication skills, decisiveness, and feel for complex data dependencies - combined with a high degree of teamwork and the ability to confidently manage and convince diverse stakeholders.
- Your sound expertise in data and its business use, as well as your deep understanding of data governance, data quality, data modeling, and data transformation.
- You have at least four years of professional experience in the data environment and a completed degree related to data, IT, or business - e.g., Business Informatics, Data Science, or related fields.
- Your very good technical understanding of modern data architectures - especially in the context of cloud platforms, databases, and tools such as GCP, Snowflake, dbt, and Collibra.
- Your practical experience in applying and further developing data catalogs, as well as your familiarity with the roles, guidelines, and processes within REWE Data Governance.
- Ideally, you already have practical experience in setting up or working in a Data Mesh environment and enjoy actively shaping modern data architectures.
