About the Role

You don't just administer, you design! With us, you'll modernize datacenter infrastructures for medium-sized companies and critical infrastructures, from planning to stable operation.

We are Transition Engineers, not traditional IT service providers. This means: We don't just advise, we implement. We don't disappear after the concept, but stay until the solution is running. Manufacturer-neutral, operationally sound, handover-ready.

What's Special: You'll alternate between projects and operations. You'll lead your own migration and modernization projects (with mentoring), constantly encounter new technologies and environments -- but without the hectic lifestyle of a classic consultant. No constant stress, no continuous client changes, no hotel hopping.

Work Model: Remote from anywhere in Germany. Team meetings 1-2 times/month in Koblenz. Customer on-site visits 1-2 times/month (data centers, migrations, commissioning).

Responsibilities

You can choose between operations and projects, the best of both worlds. You'll see a lot, constantly learn, but without the stress of a classic consultant who starts from scratch at the next client every 3 months.

Projects (approx. 40%) -- Lead Here

You'll lead your own projects from start to finish. Not as a consultant who disappears after the concept, but with full implementation responsibility: You plan, you build, you hand over.

  • Datacenter Migrations: Site changes, colocation moves, hardware refreshes
  • Platform Modernizations: VMware-to-Proxmox migrations, storage upgrades, virtualization consolidations
  • Resilience Projects: Disaster recovery concepts, high availability, backup strategies
  • Technical Project Management: You coordinate implementation, liaise with clients, and hand over to operations teams

Mentoring by Senior Engineers, but you bear the responsibility. From the first year.

Operations (approx. 60%) -- Stay Up-to-Date Here

You'll operate the infrastructures we've built. This keeps you technically sharp and shows you what really works in practice.

  • Datacenter Infrastructure: Windows Server, Active Directory, M365, Proxmox VE
  • Virtualization & Storage: Proxmox VE, VMware, Ceph, performance optimization
  • Backup & Recovery: Veeam Backup, restore tests, DR drills
  • Monitoring & Incident Response: Prometheus, Grafana, troubleshooting
  • Documentation: Runbooks, As-Built, knowledge transfer

No mindless ticket processing. You'll optimize, automate, and improve systems.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • 2-5 years of experience in system administration or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge: Windows Server, Active Directory, M365
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization (Proxmox VE, VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Experience with backup solutions (ideally Veeam)
  • Basic understanding of networking & security (VLANs, firewalls, VPNs)
  • Structured way of working, sense of responsibility, willingness to learn
  • Fluent German (C1/C2), good English

Nice-to-have:

Linux administration, storage systems (Ceph, NetApp), automation (Ansible, Terraform), monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana), certifications (Microsoft, VMware, Proxmox, Veeam).

Benefits

Become Truly Skilled

  • €3,000 training budget per year. You decide what you want to learn.
  • Real mentoring by Senior Engineers who have implemented over 200 datacenter projects: Code reviews, architecture sessions, pair working. Not as a "buddy program," but genuine technical mentoring.
  • Independent project leadership from the first year, you make technical decisions and manage real client projects with strong backup.
  • Access to lab environments. Want to test a Proxmox cluster? Try out Ceph? Build Ansible playbooks? Do it. We have the infrastructure, you have the time.

Work How You Want

  • 100% Remote from anywhere in Germany. Period.
  • Team meetings 1-2 times/month in Koblenz. Planning, exchange, and shared meals, no meetings for the sake of it.
  • Customer on-site visits 1-2 times monthly in data centers, for migrations, and commissioning. With fully reimbursed travel costs and expenses -- no bureaucracy.
  • Co-working budget of €100 per month if you don't want to work only from home. Your decision.

Earn Well

  • €50,000--€65,000 gross per year, depending on your experience. We'll tell you where you stand in the first conversation.
  • Permanent contract after the probationary period, company pension plan with employer contribution, and capital-forming benefits.
  • Hardware of your choice: MacBook Pro or ThinkPad. Plus complete home office equipment (monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, etc.).

Attractive Overall Package

  • 30 days of vacation, we want you to switch off regularly. That's why we offer you a full 30 vacation days for real recovery, without discussions, without tricks.
  • Good predictability within the team, realistic workloads, clear priorities, and transparent coordination. This way, you know what's coming early on and can plan your life reliably.
  • Short decision paths without bureaucracy, you don't have to ask three levels here. Decisions are made quickly, processes are lean and pragmatic.

Strong Team Culture

  • We stand up for each other, no lone wolves, no elbows.

You'll work in a team that lives appreciation, humor, and mutual support.

We are Transition Engineers for critical IT infrastructures. Since 2019, we have implemented over 200 datacenter projects and manage over €40 million in IT budget (cumulative). Team: 11-50 Engineers, presence in 8 European countries, NPS >87.

Our clients: Medium-sized companies, critical infrastructures, public sector. Our technologies: Proxmox VE, VMware, Ceph, Veeam, Ansible, Terraform.

What sets us apart: Manufacturer-neutral (no vendor agenda), operationally sound (pragmatic architecture), handover-ready (As-Built, Runbooks, training from the start). Benefits: Pension Plan
