Job Description

As a Payroll Specialist in our HR Team, you will play a fundamental role in preparing accurate and timely payroll. You will be responsible for payroll operations within Germany and provide legislative guidance. This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for approximately 9,000 employees in Germany.
  • Accurately and timely process all payments and deductions (salary, benefits, pension, tips, premiums).
  • Reconcile tax and social security deductions, ensuring timely filing and payment.
  • Manage Long Term Sickness, Maternity/Adoption/Paternity processes alongside the CHR team and process leavers' holiday balances.
  • Analyze payroll data for accuracy and provide key information to other teams (e.g., Finance).
  • Verify payroll reports from our Payroll Provider for starters, leavers, changes, and absences.
  • Manage the People Portal (ticketing system) and respond to payroll queries promptly and in line with company values.
  • Review output reports from the payroll provider, ensuring accurate interpretation and processing.
  • Maintain detailed payroll checklists and prepare for manager review at various stages (submission, pre-approval, month-end, quarter-end).
  • Check the accuracy of GL outputs and manage query resolution.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and training.
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation and engage in self-development through our Talent Development library.
  • Collaborate with the Scoober people operations team, suppliers, and the benefits manager to support the annual benefits calendar.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • High degree of PC literacy with advanced Excel skills (Pivots and VLookups).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with the DATEV payroll engine.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of all payroll legislation.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Fluent German and English language skills.
