Your mission
We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of top-end VR titles like Metro Awakening, Arizona Sunshine, After the Fall and The 7th Guest. Our Amsterdam studio has started development of our next VR game, following Metro Awakening, and we are looking to recruit a Technical Game Designer who can aid us in our mission.
Are you a professional Game Designer, who loves to get hands-on to flex your technical expertise and express your design passion? Then we should meet!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate novel game design ideas in support of the project's vision.
- Own various game features through the full cycle of production from concept to release.
- Implement and iterate on design prototypes using blueprint visual scripting in the Unreal Engine.
- Contribute to various game features through the full cycle of production from concept to release.
- Pro-actively communicate and cooperate with the multi-disciplinary feature team.
Your profile
- Previous working experience in technical game design and prototyping typically gained over 2 years.
- Professional experience in working with Unreal Engine visual scripting.
- Good Understanding of Game Design Principles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to write clear and concise documentation as well as proficiency in English.
- You have worked through the full game development cycle in a multidisciplinary team on a console or PC title.
- You have proficiency with Perforce, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Discord, MS Office or equivalent tools.
Bonus points for
- Experience with designing and prototyping game mechanics for virtual reality games.
- A solid understanding of puzzle design.
- Experience with designing and building engaging enemy AI behaviors and/or boss-fights using Unreal Blueprint behavior trees or HTNs.
- Worked on a AA single player story-driven action adventure game.
