About the Role
mobile.de is seeking an Environmental Performance Specialist (d/f/m) to spearhead its environmental performance strategy. This role involves establishing a carbon accounting system and developing a science-based decarbonisation plan, crucial for the company's transition to low-carbon mobility. The position emphasizes quantitative environmental analysis, including greenhouse gas measurement, analysis, and reduction strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead carbon accounting (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) in accordance with the GHG Protocol.
- Manage and validate environmental data for transparent and auditable inventories.
- Set and monitor science-based GHG reduction targets.
- Create a detailed decarbonisation roadmap with identified reduction levers and cost-benefit analyses.
- Conduct carbon modelling and scenario analysis for initiative impact forecasting.
- Support annual environmental disclosures (CSRD/ESRS or VSME) and coordinate third-party verification.
- Establish data governance, emission-factor libraries, and quality control protocols.
- Develop internal dashboards for monitoring environmental KPIs.
- Provide technical guidance on environmental topics, ensuring data-driven sustainability decisions.
- Identify and assess opportunities for greener mobility solutions (e.g., EV lifecycle, low-carbon logistics, circular practices).
- Facilitate internal understanding of carbon mechanisms and decarbonisation pathways.
Role Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in GHG accounting, carbon footprinting, or decarbonisation planning.
- Strong knowledge of environmental science, sustainability analytics, and climate-change mitigation.
- Proven ability in calculating and interpreting Scope 1-3 emissions, applying emission factors, and managing large datasets.
- Familiarity with standards and frameworks such as GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, SBTi, and CDP.
- Experience in developing decarbonisation roadmaps or energy-efficiency programs.
- Advanced skills in Excel or data tools (e.g., Power BI, Python, carbon software platforms).
- Exceptional analytical skills with a focus on data accuracy, emissions modelling, and methodological rigour.
- Strong attention to detail and curiosity for environmental systems.
- Ability to translate complex quantitative findings into actionable recommendations for all levels, including C-level.
- Self-driven, structured, and capable of independent work on technical topics.
- Enthusiasm for low-carbon mobility and emerging technologies.
- Big Plus: Experience in the mobility, automotive, or technology sectors; technical familiarity with EVs, battery lifecycle impacts, and charging infrastructure emissions.
