Software Architect -- Management Systems | Secure AUG Engagement | Berlin | 18 months (max 24) | Up to €135,000 p.a. (negotiable)

Software architecture for defence management systems. SDR platform at the heart of it.

A world-leading defence and communications technology group is looking for a Software Architect in Berlin to take architectural ownership across its Management Systems --- including the Software Defined Radio platform. This is a hands-on architecture role in a complex, safety-adjacent engineering environment, working with teams that develop systems deployed in demanding operational contexts. If you have a strong background in software architecture for embedded or communications systems and your German is C1 or above, this is worth reading.

This is a senior, highly visible role. You will engage directly with stakeholders and sub-project teams, own the architecture end to end, and be expected to defend and communicate your decisions at all levels of the organisation.

THE ROLE

• Design scalable, maintainable and high-performance software architectures for a new management system
• Analyse requirements with stakeholders; ensure architectural decisions support both business and system objectives
• Coordinate with sub-projects to ensure a functional, coherent overall system
• Make technology and design decisions autonomously; communicate these clearly to development teams and senior stakeholders
• Act as technical authority --- ensuring architectural integrity across the full delivery lifecycle

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification
• Substantial experience designing software architectures in complex, regulated or safety-critical environments
• Deep knowledge of architecture paradigms, patterns, scalability, maintainability and performance principles
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and confidently defend architectural decisions
• Business-fluent German AND English, written and spoken (minimum C1)

• Salary: Up to €135,000 p.a. (negotiable)
