Stellenbeschreibung

Software Development & Test Engineer (C++/Python)

Marine Communications | Secure AUG Engagement | Kiel | 24 months | Up to €105,000 p.a. (negotiable)

C++ development and testing in a naval software environment. Dual-discipline scope in a specialist team.

A world-leading organisation in naval communications and defence electronics is looking for a Software Development and Test Engineer in Kiel who can contribute across both implementation and quality assurance. You will write code, design and execute tests, and take genuine ownership of quality in a complex, mission-critical software domain. This is a hands-on engineering role --- not a coordination or tooling support position.

This role sits at the intersection of development and test --- you will write code and own the test strategy, acting as the quality expert within the squad and ensuring every release meets the rigorous standards required for mission-critical communications systems.

THE ROLE

  • Work within an agile team on marine communications software --- ensuring quality standards across the full development lifecycle
  • Act as the test expert: verify team deliverables using appropriate test methods and techniques
  • Create, maintain and execute unit tests to continuously ensure code quality
  • Develop automated and manual tests to support release cycles; work closely with the wider test team
  • Take on software development tasks in C++ and Python alongside testing activities

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience in software testing including independently writing unit tests
  • Solid, demonstrable skills in Python and C++
  • Experience with version control --- GitLab or GitHub preferred
  • Good knowledge of Scrum and agile methods
  • Good German and English, written and spoken --- both mandatory

THE DETAILS

  • Location: Kiel, Germany (60% home office)
  • Salary: Up to €105,000 p.a. (negotiable)
  • Start: ASAP --- all notice periods considered
  • Contract: 24-Month Secure AUG Engagement
