SOFTWARE TEST ENGINEER --- SECURE COMMUNICATION | STUTTGART

24-Month Secure AUG Engagement --- Up to €115,000 p.a. --- 60% Home Office

THE ROLE

Stuttgart's embedded C/C++ community is well served by automotive radar and drive-system roles. This one is different: you will own test creation and automation for next-generation Software Defined Radio platforms --- the secure communications software that underpins defence and government infrastructure. You will work in C/C++ and Python within an agile, cross-site engineering team, and take genuine ownership of quality across the full software stack in an environment where correctness is a delivery requirement, not an afterthought.

YOU WILL

  • Work within an agile, cross-site team on the latest generation of SDR platforms for secure communication applications

  • Create and execute test cases for development platform code, ensuring quality and reliability across the software stack

  • Drive test automation --- testing code against customer requirements and actively building out test pipelines

  • Conceptualise, write and maintain structured test documentation as a core part of the software quality process

  • Collaborate directly with embedded development engineers across C/C++ and Python codebases

  • Apply test methods, integration strategies and design techniques in a security-critical delivery environment

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Physics, or equivalent

  • Advanced embedded C/C++ development experience --- production environment, not academic

  • Python --- required for test scripting and automation

  • (Embedded) Linux --- development and operation within Linux environments

  • Solid test management knowledge: test methods, integration strategies, test design techniques

  • Git --- practical version control experience in collaborative development

  • German and English --- both fluent, both mandatory

  • EU or NATO member state citizenship --- hard requirement. Country of birth applies; naturalisation alone does not satisfy this requirement.

ADVANTAGEOUS

  • Experience with operating systems, networking, or hardware knowledge including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) and signal analysis

  • Background in a safety- or security-critical environment (defence, ISO 26262, DO-178C, or equivalent)

  • CMake build system knowledge
