We're looking for...
...passionate trailblazers for excellent education! 😎
About us
We're an impact start-up with a big mission: we build digital learning environments that don't just teach computer science and media literacy but turn them into an experience. With platforms like algo.bwinf, we're committed to genuine educational equity. Today our tools support tens of thousands of students across Germany and the US --- and we're only just getting started on revolutionizing the learning experience in the classroom.
Your role
As a Learning Experience Designer, you're the bridge between learning content and the wide mix of learners who use it. Together with experienced teachers and the rest of our team, you'll build interactive exercises with the feel of a good mini-game, the kind students get genuinely absorbed in. You'll express learning content through interaction --- designing and developing consistent concepts that grow alongside students' understanding. Your work makes hard ideas click, lowers the barrier to getting started, and keeps students motivated well beyond the first lesson.
What you should bring
- Your foundation: You have a background in human-computer interaction, interface design, visual design, learning experience design, game design, pedagogy, or a related field --- or you're currently studying one of these subjects.
- An eye for design: You know good design when you see it --- harmonious layouts and consistency across visuals and interaction patterns matter to you.
- User focus: With plenty of empathy, you put yourself in students' shoes and make learning content tangible through storytelling and memorable aha moments.
- A passion for education: You're excited by innovative learning resources, and the prospect of making a real difference in this field is what motivates you.
- Ownership and structure: You work reliably, independently, and in a highly self-organized way. You're eager to see projects through with focus and determination, from the first sketch to release.
- Openness and team spirit: You have an open ear for other perspectives and welcome feedback. What drives you isn't your own idea but the shared goal: creating the best possible learning experience for students.
- Language skills: Since our international team is active in Germany and the US, you should have strong English language skills.
- Side-quest (optional): We build for many subjects, but computer science is our home turf --- so a background in CS, or in teaching it, is a welcome bonus.
What you can expect
- Creative ownership: You'll help shape our learning content and the way students learn computer science and other subjects.
- Impact & sustainability: You'll raise the bar for what a lesson can be, and improve the everyday reality of school for the long run.
- Highly qualified colleagues: Outstanding degrees from Berkeley and Oxford, wins in prestigious competitions --- our team is a group of experts who have deliberately come together to transform education.
- Innovative tools: That same team also builds the tools you'll work with, giving you plenty of room for flexible, creative work.
- Good vibes: And they're a (very lovely 😇) international team --- warm, supportive, and a real pleasure to work with day to day.
- Flexible remote work: You're free to choose your own working hours.
