A well-established and growing SaaS organisation is seeking a Principal Frontend Developer to take ownership of its frontend architecture and drive the next phase of technical evolution.

This is a high-impact role for a senior individual contributor who thrives at the intersection of architecture, collaboration, and hands-on engineering. You will play a central role in shaping the frontend roadmap, guiding cross-team alignment, and leading modernisation and migration initiatives - working fully remotely within Europe.

The Role

As Principal Frontend Developer, you will:

• Define and own the frontend technical vision and roadmap
• Lead and execute large-scale frontend migrations and modernisation projects
• Drive architectural decisions across multiple product teams
• Champion best practices in React development, performance, and maintainability
• Improve consistency through shared components, design systems, and tooling
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, Backend, and DevOps in a distributed environment
• Mentor senior engineers and elevate frontend standards across the organisation

This is not a pure management role - we are looking for someone who remains deeply hands-on and sets standards through technical excellence.

Your Profile

• Extensive experience building complex frontend applications with React
• Strong background in frontend architecture and scalable system design
• Proven experience leading or contributing to frontend migrations (e.g. legacy frameworks to modern React stacks, monolith to modular architectures)
• Experience working across multiple teams in a product-led environment
• Strong understanding of performance optimisation, testing strategies, and frontend CI/CD
• Comfortable operating in a fully remote, cross-border team setup
• Clear communicator with strong influencing skills
