Staff Product Engineer (Backend)

We are hiring a Staff Product Engineer (Backend) for a fast-growing observability platform used by modern engineering teams across Europe.

This is a senior technical leadership role focused on architecting and scaling backend systems that power usage-based billing, complex metering, and payment integrations. You will work closely with product, finance, and engineering teams to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and cost transparency.

What You'll Do:

• Architect and scale distributed backend systems using Go (Golang)
• Own usage-based billing systems, complex metering, and pricing models
• Integrate payment providers such as Stripe and cloud marketplaces
• Define backend standards, patterns, and architectural trade-offs
• Establish strong observability practices using OpenTelemetry
• Ensure security-first, high-reliability systems where data accuracy is critical
• Own the technical roadmap and mentor senior engineers
• Review PRDs and ensure technical feasibility
• Leverage AI and agentic coding tools while validating output quality

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with Go (Golang)
• Usage-based billing systems and complex metering
• Distributed systems architecture
• Stripe or payment system integrations
• Backend scalability and reliability
• Observability and monitoring systems (OpenTelemetry)
• Strong code quality standards and security mindset
• Experience mentoring engineers and owning architecture

Nice-to-Have:

• Java

• CRM or reporting system integrations
• RevOps or finance systems experience

Compensation:

• Salary range: $125,000 -- $142,000 USD per year
• Benefits: ESOP, Stock options included
