About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team at our locations in Salzgitter or Lüneburg. This is a fixed-term position until December 30, 2027, offering an exciting opportunity to influence the digital transformation of energy networks. As a Data Engineer - Energy Networks, you will play a vital role in designing, developing, and maintaining data-driven solutions that enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our energy infrastructure. Your work will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, translating complex data requirements into scalable and robust technical architectures. You will contribute to the development of innovative analytics, digital applications, and AI solutions that support the company's strategic objectives and operational excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background with a degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field, complemented by relevant professional experience. Proficiency in modern cloud platforms, particularly MS Azure (including Databricks, Data Factory, DevOps), is essential. You should have hands-on experience with data integration, ETL processes, and data modeling using tools such as SQL, Python, and REST APIs. Knowledge of container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, will be advantageous. Excellent analytical and conceptual skills are required to interpret complex data structures and develop scalable models. Fluency in German and English (minimum C1 level) is mandatory for effective communication within our international environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the conception and development of data-driven applications for network and asset management processes, defining data flows and interfaces between IT, OT systems, and cloud data platforms.
- Ensure the integration and harmonization of data from various operational systems, making data accessible and usable for analytics, reporting, and operational workflows.
- Design, implement, and operate ETL processes from data extraction to transformation and loading into cloud-based data repositories, ensuring data quality and consistency.
- Analyze source structures, develop data models, and create robust, scalable data architectures to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Assist in building, configuring, and monitoring cloud and database infrastructures, including managing interface processes to ensure seamless data exchange.
- Prepare data from diverse sources for digital network processes, analytical models, and operational applications, supporting the deployment of new data solutions into production environments.
- Develop reporting and analytical solutions, primarily utilizing Power BI, to facilitate data-driven decision-making and continuous data provisioning.
- Engage in requirements analysis, develop IT and data architectures, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful technical implementation.
