About the Role

We are BetterDoc. A young digital health company with over 200 employees at our locations in Cologne and Basel. We support patients with serious illnesses and complex diagnoses by finding the best possible doctors for their specific health problems. To do this, we use and analyze publicly available quality data. Since 2012, we have helped thousands of patients find the right doctor for their health problem. We have also been part of the Otto Group since 2022, which supports us in our mission.

To strengthen our medical team, we are looking for a motivated doctor at our Cologne location as soon as possible, with the option of working from home. Depending on your interests and experience, you will have the opportunity to develop or contribute as a manager.

Your Responsibilities

Patient Care As a medical contact person at BetterDoc, you will support our patients by phone and guide them towards the best possible medical care. You will conduct structured conversations, clarify open questions, and support patients empathetically and solution-oriented with their concerns.

In addition to personal support, you will also take on medical triage: you will review incoming medical documents, questionnaires, and findings, evaluate the information based on a clearly defined concept, and derive which medical specialty, medical qualification, or institution is suitable for the situation. This structured initial assessment forms the basis for further research into suitable specialists or clinics.

Together with our experienced research team, you will then identify the most suitable providers – based on the individual needs of the patients and publicly available quality data. Our patient survey team will then collect feedback on the entire BetterDoc service and the recommended doctors or clinics on your behalf. With your medical expertise and empathy, you will contribute to ensuring that every patient receives tailor-made, high-quality, and individual medical care.

Leadership Due to our continuous growth, we already employ a large number of doctors. After successful onboarding, you will gradually take over the management of a team of doctors, organize the daily work of your employees, and be available as an expert for medical queries. Furthermore, you are passionate about developing your employees and enabling them to make the right medical decisions.

Development of Medical Expertise Depending on a possible specialist training and your other interests, you can participate in building knowledge in specific medical focus areas – together with the research team at BetterDoc.

Projects As a growing company in the healthcare sector, BetterDoc relies on the active and dedicated participation of its employees in the further development of the organization. This includes, among other things, the ongoing optimization of work processes, the description of functional requirements for our system software (no technical background required!), and participation in projects in the medical context.

Your Profile

• Completed medical studies, preferably with specialist training or equivalent Master's degree in Public/Global Health or Health Services Research
• At least 3-5 years of experience in a clinic or practice
• Interest and motivation to take on leadership responsibility (initial leadership experience desirable)
• Enjoyment of phone calls (for telephone anamnesis with patients)
• Interest in improving the quality of healthcare
• Initiative & implementation strength
• Internet affinity & confident use of Microsoft Office
