Your Work Environment

We are developing the social future! As the operational IT service provider for the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (BA), the IT-Systemhaus at the main location in Nuremberg/Fürth and at various locations throughout Germany operates one of the largest IT landscapes in Germany with over 100 own IT applications, 180,000 networked PC workstations, and the associated infrastructure, and is constantly developing it. You will be employed as an IT Architect in the IT-Systemhaus according to the collective agreement.

Become part of the K51 "Master Data Entry and Maintenance Program" (STEP) team in the "Support Services" division. This is where the software for one of the core operational IT procedures within the BA is developed. We manage and develop the STEP application, which is the master data management system of the BA.

As an elementary basic service, it provides data for approximately 41 million people and around 15 million companies via standardized interfaces to other IT applications, and our users can manage this data via a modern web interface. This makes STEP an integral part of numerous business processes within the organization.

You will be employed as an IT Architect in the STEP procedure. As an architect, you will continuously work on the future viability of the product, keeping an eye on both technical debt and future technologies. This also includes responsibility for a technical roadmap of the product in line with business requirements and available budget.

You will be responsible for clarifying overarching technical issues and developing solution strategies for interface partners, projects, and agile teams in STEP. We are currently developing in 5 agile teams using the Scrum methodology.

As part of an agile development team, you will also take on development tasks and coordinate closely with the respective Product Owners in the STEP procedure, as well as the technical manager for "Customer Data" at the K5 division level.

Tasks and Activities
  • Development of IT strategies with a focus on technological dependencies and architectures
  • Responsibility for the analysis, evaluation, and conception of technical requirements in the STEP procedure
  • Overall technical responsibility for the STEP procedure
  • Consultation and coordination with interface partners, managers, and clients
  • Coaching and knowledge transfer within the scope of software architecture and technical issues
  • Responsibility for planning, organization, and execution of projects across all project phases
  • Definition of project goals, milestones, and resources
  • Ongoing market research and review of technology trends and developments, as well as adaptation of internal IT guidelines
  • Creation of guidelines for IT security and compliance, and ensuring compliance with the guidelines
  • Analysis and evaluation of technical requirements
Requirements
  • University degree or comparable qualification (preferred fields: Computer Science, Business Informatics)
  • Many years of relevant professional experience
  • Or comparable profile

Knowledge and experience in the following areas are desirable for the position:

  • In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure and architecture
  • In-depth experience with container-based architecture (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • In-depth knowledge of build and deployment technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of IT security, compliance, and technical integration
  • In-depth knowledge of project management methods and tools
  • In-depth knowledge of product development and requirements analysis
  • In-depth experience with core technologies such as Java, J(2)EE, JavaScript
  • In-depth experience with technologies such as REST, SOAP, Kafka, S3, Oracle databases
  • In-depth experience with application frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Angular
  • Sound knowledge of technological trends and innovations
  • Experience in software modeling using UML

Experience with the following tools is desirable:

  • GitHub, Nexus-IQ, Contrast, ELK, Grafana, Loki
  • JIRA and Confluence
