To successfully expand and grow our car rental comparison, we are looking for you as a (Junior) Data Scientist (m/f/d) -- Focus on Recommender Systems and Ranking Problems at CHECK24 Vergleichsportal Mietwagen GmbH. Responsibilities

• Development and Operation of Recommender and Ranking Systems: You will develop and improve productive ranking and recommendation models with a direct impact on our car rental product. Your models will help to deliver search results and offers in a personalized and preference-based manner, thus supporting our customers' decision-making.
• Analysis, Experiments, and Model Optimization: You will analyze data and model KPIs, conduct experiments (A/B tests), and iteratively improve our models.
• Productive Integration of Models: You will integrate your models into our existing system landscape together with IT and product teams via APIs and services.
• Working with Modern Data Science and Engineering Tools: You will work with Python and common ML libraries, as well as Git and Docker for reproducible development and operation.
• Monitoring and Quality Assurance: You will monitor the performance of your models and ensure reliable operation and continuous improvement of recommendation quality.

Qualifications

• Drive and Motivation: You are enthusiastic about Data Science and Machine Learning with a clear focus on Recommender Systems and Ranking Problems. You want to take responsibility for models with high customer impact and strive to make a measurable contribution to the quality and performance of our car rental product through data-driven decisions.
• Experience in Developing Data Science Applications: You have practical experience in the development and operation of machine learning applications, from data preparation and training to productive deployment. This includes, among other things, building stable data and training pipelines and working with common ML frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras), ideally also in the context of ranking or recommender systems (e.g., Learn-to-Rank, Matrix Factorization).
• Technical Skills: You have very good Python skills and use them confidently in productive environments. You have experience with common data science libraries and initial practical experience in software development, e.g., with version control (Git), containerization (Docker), and API development. Knowledge of cloud infrastructures and databases is an advantage, but not a requirement.
• Passion for AI Tools: You are open to new technologies and ways of working and enjoy using generative AI models (e.g., GPT, Cursor AI), trying out new tools, and using AI specifically in conception, implementation, and testing.
• Analytical Mindset and Solution Orientation: You analyze complex issues in a structured manner, can identify relevant influencing factors, and develop pragmatic, comprehensible solutions. You keep both technical requirements and the customer's perspective in mind.
• Interdisciplinary Mindset: You enjoy working at the interface between Data Science, IT, and Product Management. Professional exchange within the team and the joint further development of solutions within the CHECK24 Data Science Community are a matter of course for you.
• Language Skills: You have fluent German language skills, both spoken and written.
