Senior Software Engineer DevOps - NixOS Fokus (m/w/d)

Role Overview

As a DevOps Engineer, you ensure our processes are efficient, automated, and future-proof. You will oversee the entire development lifecycle -- from the initial idea through implementation to going live. You will not only focus on technical implementation but also think ahead: How can infrastructures be built smarter? Where can automation help? Which technologies are best for scalable architectures?

In customer projects, you will apply your expertise to manage and optimize self-hosted infrastructures with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and continuously develop Nix-based development environments and CI workflows.

Responsibilities

The focus here is on:

• NixOS: You bring comprehensive knowledge of NixOS, especially in system-wide configuration management and declarative infrastructure. You understand how to set up and maintain systems consistently and reproducibly.
• Terranix: You will use Terranix to combine NixOS with Terraform, expanding and automating Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) approaches.
• Colmena: You can efficiently use Colmena to orchestrate cluster deployments and roll out configuration changes safely and in a coordinated manner.

• Secure Job & Fair Compensation: You will receive an unlimited full-time employment contract. The salary range is €70,000--€85,000, with openness to higher compensation for exceptional performance.

Practical Experience over purely academic background: A completed degree is not required -- what's important is that you have already independently made technology decisions and implemented projects. Show us repos, snippets, or things you have built or fixed.

• Technical Expertise & Decision-Making Skills: You can understand, structure, and implement complex technical concepts. You have the ability to independently learn new topics while always maintaining an overview.
• Communication Skills: You can express yourself confidently in technical discussions in both German and English and represent yourself clearly and confidently in both languages -- both in team and customer interactions.
• Analytical and Solution-Oriented Thinking: You are enthusiastic about innovative technologies and have the ability to use them purposefully in consulting and development processes.
