Financial Controller Germany (Dusseldorf Office)

In this key position, you are responsible for the day‑to‑day accounting, taxation and treasury operations in Germany and for maintaining a robust internal control environment across our European operations. You will work closely with the CFO, the European leadership team, our Australian support office, and external stakeholders.

What will you do?

You are accountable for the full financial operational scope, including accounting, reporting, internal controls, treasury and tax compliance. You build and maintain a financial foundation that supports the growth of Collins Foods in Europe.

Additionally, you will:

• Lead, develop and inspire the Finance Team (1 direct report).
• Set team goals, manage performance and support talent development.
• Act as a strategic business partner for all European department heads and key Group leaders in Australia.
• Oversee general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable and collaboration with HR to ensure accurate payroll execution.
• Ensuring timely completion of period end close and year end close.
• Ensure financial systems and processes are optimized and compliant.
• Maintain and enhance the internal control framework.
• Monitor accounting developments and apply relevant standards.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships and borrowing requirements.
• Lead German tax compliance, including coordination with the Group tax team.
• Support M&A activities and provide wide-ranging financial leadership to the business.
• Preparation of German GAAP Annual Accounts including Management report and manage auditors.
• Review of Balance sheet reconciliation including detailed focus on cash/card in transit reconciliations.

What do you bring?

• Post‑qualification experience from a recognized accounting body and experience in a senior finance or leadership role (multi‑site or retail experience is an advantage).
• Proven ability to lead and develop teams and excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgement and accountability.
• Strong business acumen and a collaborative mindset.
• A mindset focused on continuous improvement across people, processes, and systems.
• Fluent in English and German.

About Collins Foods Europe

Collins opened its first KFC restaurant in 1969 in Queensland. Currently, they have almost 300 KFC restaurants across Australia. Apart from Australia, Collins has 17 KFC restaurants in Germany and 63 in the Netherlands. This will become many more in the coming months and years. There are approximately 11,500 employees working in Australia, 1900 employees working in the Netherland and about 600 employees work in Germany. They are supported by a Restaurant Support Team in Düsseldorf. In this Restaurant Support Center in Dusseldorf there are working dedicated employees providing the restaurants with plenty of support.
