Machine Learning Engineer (m/w/d)

We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to join a small, highly technical team working on advanced data- and AI-driven systems. The role sits at the interface of experimentation and delivery and focuses on turning machine learning ideas into operationally realistic solutions that can later be scaled and maintained by product teams.

Your Mission

You will design, build, and validate end-to-end machine learning prototypes. These prototypes must be technically robust, measurable, and easy to adopt. Your work creates the foundation for long-term product development rather than short-lived demos.

Your Responsibilities

• Implement end-to-end ML prototypes spanning data ingestion, feature processing, model inference, and user- or system-visible outputs.

• Define evaluation setups with clear baselines and metrics covering model quality, performance, and resource usage.

• Prepare prototypes for handover by packaging services, documenting assumptions, and defining repeatable deployment steps.

• Collaborate with peers from data, research, and engineering backgrounds to iterate safely and efficiently on ideas.

• Ensure solutions are operationally credible by addressing observability, basic security considerations, and responsible data handling.

Your Profile

• Professional experience in machine learning engineering, applied ML, or MLOps, with evidence of deployed or operated systems.

• Strong programming skills in Python and practical experience with modern ML frameworks.

• Hands-on experience working with containerized workloads and distributed or cloud-native execution environments.

• A structured, evaluation-driven mindset and the ability to clearly explain technical trade-offs.

• Eligibility to work in Germany; additional background checks may apply depending on the project context.

Nice to Have

• Experience with model serving, GPU acceleration, or model optimization techniques.

• Exposure to streaming or large-scale data processing systems.

• Experience working in regulated, high-reliability, or highly constrained environments.
