Lead Animator - Narrative VR

Daring House is looking for a versatile Animator to join the production of an innovative 6DOF narrative VR experience.

Mandatory Requirement

• Location: You MUST be a current resident of Berlin or Brandenburg. Applications from candidates outside this region will not be considered.

The Role

• This position requires a unique blend of traditional animation craft and cutting-edge technology. You will be responsible for bringing to life characters that range from 2D "cutout" styles to complex 3D volumetric figures. You will report directly to the Lead Developer.

Key Responsibilities

• Hybrid Animation: Animate 2D cutout figures and 3D volumetric characters within a 6DOF environment.
• Motion Capture Pipeline: Oversee MoCap sessions, including data recording, retargeting, and cleanup for character performances.
• AI Implementation: Integrate AI-driven tools to automate cleanup, synthesize motion, or optimize general animation workflows.
• Traditional Flair: Apply classical animation principles to ensure the "hand-drawn" aesthetic of the project remains fluid and expressive.
• Technical Integration: Ensure all animations are fully optimized for real-time performance within Unity.

Technical Requirements

• Software: Expert proficiency in Unity and Blender.
• Traditional Animation: A strong foundation in 2D or traditional animation techniques.
• Motion Capture: Proven experience with MoCap hardware and data management pipelines.
• AI Expertise: Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to increase both the quality and productivity of the animation cycle.
• VR Focus: Previous experience in VR development, specifically regarding how movement impacts immersion in a 6DOF space.
