Meet the Team

Our foundation is built on DeepL's reputation for world-class translation quality, earning the trust of millions of users and leading enterprise clients worldwide. The Voice team, a dynamic unit comprising Research, Product Engineering, and Design, is spearheading our next phase of growth. We are defining the future of real-time voice interpretation. Established two years ago, we successfully launched our initial customer-facing features in late 2024 and are now expanding with applications for major meeting platforms, real-time communication channels, and a robust Public API.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and build full-stack features: Take ownership of problems from conception to completion, collaborating with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable, impactful user-facing features.
  • Maintain and improve systems: Share responsibility for our existing systems, ensuring their performance, maintainability, and reliability as we scale.
  • Ensure code quality and clarity: Engage in thoughtful code reviews, contribute to architectural decisions, and elevate engineering excellence across the team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with team members from various disciplines to ensure we are addressing the right challenges and delivering genuine user value.
  • Adapt and grow: Maintain curiosity, stay updated with evolving tools and technologies, and quickly apply new skills as needed.
  • On-call rotation: Participate in the team's shared on-call rotation to ensure the reliability and availability of our services.

Qualities We Look For

  • Strong product engineering mindset: A deep commitment to solving user problems, balancing pragmatism with technical expertise in system design.
  • Full-stack fluency: Comfort working across the entire stack, with a solid understanding of system design and production deployment, regardless of primary specialization.
  • Engineering foundations: Proficient in software engineering principles, including clean abstractions, robust data modeling, sound architectural decisions, and scalable system development.
  • Collaborative communicator: Clear communication skills, active listening, and a team-oriented approach. Thrives in collaborative settings and welcomes feedback.
  • Growth-oriented: Eager to learn, embraces new challenges, and is willing to work with unfamiliar technologies when required.
