About Doonails 💅🏼
Doonails is a fast-growing beauty startup revolutionizing the manicure world. With innovative products, a strong community, and a presence in online shops and with leading retail partners, we bring studio quality directly to your home – simple, fast, and stylish.
We are actively scaling into new markets – EU, Switzerland, UK, USA – and need someone who not only ensures our regulatory and legal compliance but also proactively drives it forward. You are the person who enables product launches, drastically reduces external consulting costs, and ensures Doonails grows compliantly in every market.
Your Role & Your Impact
As Regulatory & Legal Manager, you will be responsible for the complete regulatory compliance of all Doonails products in our core markets – from the EU, Switzerland, and the UK to the USA. You will be the central point of contact for everything related to product approvals, claims, labeling, and initial legal assessments.
Your purpose: You will protect Doonails from regulatory risks, accelerate our product launches, and build internal compliance know-how that makes us sustainably more independent of external consulting.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Product Approval & Registration: Regulatory approval and registration in all target markets (EU, CH, UK, USA) – as well as management of external lab tests and safety assessments.
- Product Documentation: Creation, maintenance, and independent interpretation of PIFs, safety data sheets, and lab reports – also using AI tools.
- Claims, Labeling & Packaging: Review of all product claims (webshop, marketing, packaging) for regulatory conformity, as well as ensuring correct ingredient declaration, labeling, and recycling symbols per market.
- Waste & Environmental Compliance: Implementation and monitoring of the Battery Ordinance, VerpackG, LUCID, EPR, and other waste regulations.
- Regulatory Monitoring & Cross-Team Coordination: Ongoing monitoring of regulatory developments in all markets and cross-team implementation planning with Product, Packaging, Marketing, and SCM.
- Legal Initial Assessment & Knowledge Building: Contract review for supplier, license, and partner agreements, as well as building an internal compliance knowledge system to reduce dependence on external consulting.
What You Bring:
- Experience: 3-5+ years in Regulatory Affairs or Legal Compliance – ideally in the cosmetics, beauty, or FMCG industry.
- Regulatory Expertise: Profound knowledge of EU cosmetics law (Regulation 1223/2009); practical experience with CPNP, PIFs, and Cosmetic Product Safety Reports; knowledge of other markets (CH, UK, USA) is an advantage.
- Claims & Labeling: Familiarity with claims compliance and labeling requirements for cosmetic products – you know what is on the packaging and why.
- Waste & Environmental Compliance: Knowledge of packaging laws and waste compliance (VerpackG, LUCID, EPR, Battery Ordinance) is an advantage.
- Work Style: Structured, self-reliant, managing multiple projects simultaneously – you keep an overview, prioritize pragmatically, and know when external expertise is needed.
- Digital & Hands-on: Open to AI tools and digital workflows for documenting and interpreting regulatory content – you take action instead of waiting.
- Languages: Fluent German, very good English – other EU languages are a plus.
Your Perspective:
- You will build the Regulatory & Legal foundation of Doonails from the ground up – with real creative freedom.
- Direct influence on product strategy, market expansion, and business decisions at the leadership level.
- Close collaboration with Product, Marketing, SCM, and Leadership – not a silo role.
- Growing responsibility with the company: The more markets we enter, the more impact your work will have.
