Junior Data Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a motivated Junior Data Engineer to join our data team and help build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure. This role is ideal for early-career professionals who enjoy working with data, learning modern data technologies, and supporting data-driven decision-making in a remote-first environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in building, maintaining, and monitoring data pipelines (ETL/ELT)
• Support data ingestion from multiple sources (APIs, databases, files)
• Help clean, transform, and validate data for analytics and reporting
• Maintain data models and documentation
• Support data quality checks and troubleshooting data issues
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and software engineers
• Assist with optimizing data workflows and performance
• Participate in code reviews and follow data engineering best practices

Requirements

Junior-Level (0--2 years)

• Degree or coursework in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Basic experience with SQL and relational databases
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (Python preferred)
• Understanding of data concepts such as ETL, data warehousing, and data modeling
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus
• Familiarity with version control (Git)

General Requirements

• Fluent in English (German is a plus)
• Based in Germany with legal right to work full-time
• Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a data engineering career
