Senior Data Analyst / Analytics Engineer (Python, SQL) (w/m/d) - Essen

Requirements

Must have:

• Several years of experience in data analytics or business intelligence, ideally in product- or business-oriented teams.
• Mastery of descriptive statistics and the ability to contextualize KPIs to drive real decisions.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with tools like Python and modern BI/dashboarding tools (e.g., Superset).
• Initial exposure to data modeling or dbt is a big plus.
• Ability to communicate complex issues understandably and ask the right questions.
• Structured, curious, self-directed, and enthusiastic about transforming data into impact.

Responsibilities:

• Develop meaningful reports, KPI systems, and dashboards that can be intuitively used by product, sales, and management.
• Conduct exploratory and targeted analyses and explain KPI developments (e.g., conversion, time-to-sale).
• Derive concrete recommendations for action for teams and managers.
• Document data models, measurement logic, and KPIs so that colleagues without deep data knowledge can work with them confidently.
• Recognize dependencies and collaborate closely with Product, Business, and Engineering.
• Independently manage topics, prioritize meaningfully, and implement data projects from idea to completion.
• Work with our data models and use SQL for self-service data retrieval, as well as take on smaller modeling and transformation tasks (e.g., using dbt).
