Platform Engineer (m/w/d) für sichere KI-Infrastruktur (Kubernetes/Python)

About the Role

We are seeking a Platform Engineer (m/f/d) with approximately 5 years of experience for a tech startup based in Berlin. This is a unique opportunity to actively shape the future of AI security and digital sovereignty in Europe. The ideal candidate will build and operate the technical backbone of a secure AI platform, taking on a central role with high autonomy and genuine impact.

The successful applicant will be an integral part of the agile team, progressively taking responsibility for the Kubernetes-based cloud infrastructure. The startup operates under a "You build it, you run it" philosophy, eliminating the need for a separate operations department and offering significant depth and freedom in this position.

Core Responsibilities:

• Build & Operate: Design and manage the Kubernetes-based infrastructure on a European cloud platform.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Further develop and maintain the IaC setup using Terraform and Helm.
• Automation: Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines (e.g., with GitHub Actions).
• Backend Development: Actively contribute to the development of backend services written in Python (FastAPI/Django).
• Ownership: Assume operational responsibility for the entire platform, including monitoring and incident response.

Ideal Profile:

• Deep, practical experience with Kubernetes in a production environment.
• Proficient in Terraform (Must-have) and Helm (Nice-to-have) is a fundamental requirement.
• Python skills, ideally with experience in web frameworks like FastAPI or Django.
• Demonstrable experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with a common cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure) and a strong interest in European alternatives.

Valued, but not required, experience includes:

• System design for scalable services
• Open Source: Contributions to open-source projects are a plus.
• PostgreSQL, observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana), and security principles.
• Frontend: JavaScript, REACT
