About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist (m/w/d) to join our Data & Analytics team at Deichmann SE. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing data-driven products that directly influence business decisions across various departments including Omnichannel, Marketing, CRM, Pricing, Purchasing, and Logistics. You will be responsible for creating end-to-end analytics solutions, from conceptualization to deployment, utilizing modern cloud-based platforms and tools. Your work will help optimize operational efficiency, enhance customer satisfaction, and support strategic initiatives by leveraging advanced statistical methods, machine learning, and data visualization techniques.
As part of our team, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and IT specialists to translate complex requirements into effective analytical solutions. Your insights will contribute to building a smarter, more responsive business environment, ultimately driving growth and innovation within the company. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of retail analytics, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as Python, SQL, Databricks, MLflow, and Airflow to create impactful solutions.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess a solid academic background with a completed degree in a STEM field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related disciplines). You should have at least five years of professional experience in Data Science or Data Analytics, preferably within the retail or fashion industry. Strong proficiency in statistics, time series forecasting, Python, and SQL is essential. Additionally, familiarity with software engineering principles related to machine learning---including model development, testing, versioning, CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and monitoring---is required.
You should have hands-on experience with modern data platforms such as Azure, Databricks, Airflow, and Power BI, along with a good understanding of MLOps fundamentals. Excellent communication skills, pragmatic problem-solving ability, and the capacity to quickly adapt to new domains and technologies are vital. Fluency in German is mandatory, and good English skills are expected to facilitate collaboration across international teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop end-to-end analytics products within interdisciplinary teams, from initial concept through proof of concept (PoC) to operational deployment.
- Create and maintain forecasts, optimization algorithms, and other data products that support strategic and operational decision-making processes.
- Perform analysis using statistical methods, machine learning, and data visualization tools, and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Ensure the reliable operation of deployed models by monitoring performance, analyzing errors, and iteratively improving the models and associated processes.
- Design data structures suitable for analytical products and oversee their technical implementation, ensuring scalability and robustness.
- Engage closely with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and present results in an understandable manner tailored to different audiences.
