About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Network and Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team at Capgemini. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our network and server infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to design, implement, and support complex IT environments, including physical and virtual infrastructures. Your expertise will be critical in managing network components, firewalls, and server systems, as well as automating processes to improve operational efficiency. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a solid technical background with experience in network and server management. You should have comprehensive knowledge of routing, switching, and network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP, along with hands-on experience working with Cisco or comparable network hardware. Experience in configuring and operating firewalls from vendors like Palo Alto and Fortinet, including VPN setup and security policies, is essential. Familiarity with VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter, including storage integration and high-availability concepts, is required. Candidates should also have experience managing physical servers, performing patch management, and planning cabling infrastructure. A willingness to participate in on-call duties and pass security clearance procedures under German law is necessary. Self-motivation, structured working style, and problem-solving skills are key qualities for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the availability and high performance of network components and servers in accordance with defined service level agreements. You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and manage incidents, problems, and changes following ITIL best practices. Administration and optimization of VMware environments, including ESXi and vCenter, will be part of your daily tasks. You will configure and monitor firewalls, switches, and routers to maintain a secure and efficient network. Implementing security policies and protective measures to safeguard infrastructure is a critical aspect of your role. Collaboration with internal teams and external experts is necessary for planning and executing maintenance and upgrade projects within on-premises data centers. Additionally, you will develop automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and utilize tools like Ansible and Terraform to streamline configuration management, deployment, and infrastructure automation processes.
