Are you passionate about the intersection of artificial intelligence, physics, and engineering? Then join us in shaping the future of technical design and AI-based simulation! In this position, you will actively contribute to the application and advancement of generative methods and physics-informed learning for engineering problems. You will develop innovative approaches to intelligently generate and simulate complex technical systems - from hardware designs to molecular structures. Your responsibilities include

Ihre Aufgaben

  • Independent conduct and publication of research results at top international conferences and journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
  • Development and implementation of novel model and learning architectures
  • Co-supervision of Bachelor's and Master's students
  • Presentation at international conferences and workshops

This scientific position offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD.

What you contribute

Ihr Profil

  • Excellent Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with PyTorch and/or JAX
  • Strong interest in engineering problems and motivation to explore new application domains
  • Experience with HPC infrastructure and collaborative tools (Git) is a plus
  • Deep expertise in one of the following areas:
Generative AI
  • Hands-on experience with modern generative models, such as diffusion models and flow matching
  • Solid understanding of the theoretical foundations of generative methods
  • Experience implementing generative models for non-standard data types
  • Ideally, experience in AI for Design
ML-based simulations
  • Solid theoretical foundations in partial differential equations and numerical methods
  • Strong knowledge and experience with ML-based simulation methods (e.g., PINNs, Neural Operators)
  • Ideally, practical experience with system identification methods (e.g., SINDy, PySR)
  • Publications, conference presentations, or other scientific activities are a plus (feel free to include publications with your application)
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a structured manner
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • On-site availability to foster creative collaboration among colleagues

The position is initially limited to 2 years. An extension is explicitly desired.

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
