Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a Structural Engineering background to join a major complex rail infrastructure programme in Munich. This role will support the delivery of large-scale rail projects involving bridges, stations, and associated civil structures, with a strong focus on Deutsche Bahn standards and project environments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing multidisciplinary project delivery across planning, design coordination, stakeholder management, construction oversight, and programme execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex rail infrastructure projects from concept through delivery
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across structural, civil, rail systems, and construction interfaces
- Oversee delivery of bridges, station structures, and associated rail infrastructure assets
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with Deutsche Bahn standards and regulations
- Manage project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and reporting processes
- Act as the primary contact for clients, contractors, consultants, and key stakeholders
- Support procurement, contract management, and commercial coordination activities
- Drive technical and project governance throughout all project phases
- Ensure compliance with German rail regulations, quality standards, and HSE requirements
- Facilitate project meetings, progress tracking, and executive reporting
Requirements
Essential
- Degree qualified in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Project Management within infrastructure or rail projects
- Minimum 3--5 years' experience working on Deutsche Bahn projects
- Strong experience delivering complex rail projects involving bridges and stations
- Fluent German and English communication skills
- Strong knowledge of rail project delivery processes, German construction standards, and stakeholder coordination
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex project interfaces
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills
Desirable
- PMP, PRINCE2, or comparable project management certification
- Experience within major transportation or infrastructure programmes in Germany
- Knowledge of BIM and digital project delivery tools
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation
