Company Profile

We operate in complex industrial, energy, and infrastructure projects involving large-scale construction sites with more than 500 personnel. Our projects require structured, internationally aligned HSE systems and strong on-site leadership.

We are currently seeking an experienced HSE Manager for a major project with more than 500 workers.

Role Overview

As HSE Manager, you will assume full responsibility for the strategic and operational HSE management of a large-scale construction project.

You will ensure implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the project HSE management system in accordance with national legislation and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 / Nebosh).

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the project-specific HSE management system
  • Manage and supervise the HSE team (Officers, Advisors, Supervisors)
  • Develop project-specific risk assessments, HSE plans, and method statements
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and corporate HSE requirements
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and management safety walks
  • Lead incident investigations including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
  • Report HSE KPIs (e.g., LTIFR, TRIR, leading indicators) to project management and senior leadership
  • Monitor subcontractor HSE performance and compliance
  • Organize and oversee safety inductions, toolbox talks, training programs, and safety stand-downs
  • Interface with authorities and client auditors

The role is full-time, based in Hanover, with hybrid work options depending on project phase.

Candidate Profile

Professional Requirements

  • Proven experience as HSE Manager on major construction projects (>300--500 workforce)
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health & safety and environmental regulations
  • Experience in industrial, infrastructure, or EPC environments
  • Practical expertise in ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems
  • Competence in structured incident investigation and risk management
  • Experience with Permit-to-Work systems

Qualifications

  • Degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
  • or equivalent technical qualification with HSE specialization
  • Recognized certifications such as:
    • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) or higher NEBOSH qualification
    • Certified Safety Professional / SiFa
    • SCC / ISO Auditor (advantageous)
