About the Role

Are you a seasoned finance professional looking to make a real impact in a fast-growing global tech startup? This company is seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join their dynamic Finance team in Berlin, Germany.

Location: Berlin -- (Remote with occasional travel to Berlin) Salary: € 90,000 - € 100,000

As the Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in establishing solid financial foundations as the company expands its operations in Germany. Reporting directly to the company leadership, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously, handling everything from financial statements and reporting to tax compliance and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (HGB-compliant), including detailed analysis and commentary.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate documentation of all business transactions.
• Support the company's planning, forecasting, and reporting efforts by providing data-driven insights.
• Oversee invoice verification, payment processing, and receivables management for the company's Accounts Receivable and Payable.
• Handle VAT returns and collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure the company's full compliance with German commercial and tax laws.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors, ensuring the timely submission of all required documents.
• Analyze existing workflows and implement smarter, more digital, and automated solutions to optimize the company's accounting processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in accounting, preferably in the travel, hospitality, or SaaS industry.
• Robust knowledge of German commercial and tax law (HGB, UStG).
• Proficient in using accounting software like DATEV, SAP, or similar.
• Advanced Excel skills and a strong analytical mindset.
• Fluency in both German and English, both spoken and written.
• Independent, structured, and precise work ethic, combined with a collaborative spirit and an open mindset.
• Bonus: Professional certifications (e.g., Steuerberater:in, ACCA, CPA).
