The Opportunity

Grafana Cloud is our composable observability platform, integrating metrics, logs, and traces with Grafana. It allows customers to use leading open-source observability software (Prometheus, Mimir, Loki, Tempo) without the burden of self-management.

The Databases team is responsible for the telemetry databases: Mimir for metrics, Loki for logs, Tempo for traces, and Pyroscope for profiles. These are open-source projects offered as a Cloud service and an on-premise solution. They are multi-tenant distributed systems written in Go, running on Kubernetes across major cloud providers (GCP, Azure, AWS). Our engineers also contribute to Prometheus, Grafana Agent, Mimir proxies, and OpenTelemetry.

What You'll Be Doing

• Influence our roadmap and your career objectives.

• Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and availability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of services.

• Expand your skills by learning about our cloud product, customers, and the codebase of a large distributed system.

As a remote-first company with a distributed engineering organization, we rely on video calls for guidance and meetings. An independent attitude and strong communication skills are essential.

Requirements

• Solid experience in at least one programming language (Go preferred, but Python, C, C++, Rust, or similar are transferable).
• Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering to shipping a product to customers in a self-driven manner.
• Experience developing software for the cloud or systems engineering.
• Proven ability to write clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.

Bonus Points

• Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker.
• Experience using Grafana and Prometheus in operational roles (including on-call).
• Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with on-call duties, SRE tasks, or infrastructure as code.

Compensation & Rewards

• Germany Base Compensation Range: EUR 97,000 - EUR 121,000.
• Actual compensation depends on level, experience, and skillset.
• All roles include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) for shared ownership.
• Compensation ranges are country-specific.
