About the Role: Senior Frontend Engineer - Session Replay / Grafana Cloud

This is a remote opportunity for applicants based in Spain, Germany, Ireland, the UK, or Sweden.

About the Session Replay Squad

The Session Replay squad is developing a new Grafana Cloud product to help customers understand user experiences during production issues. This product connects frontend signals (errors, performance, synthetic checks) to session-level evidence for faster issue investigation. The team operates at the intersection of frontend observability, debugging workflows, privacy, access control, and large-scale performance/cost optimization. As this product is in its early stages, you will play a key role in shaping its development and integration within Grafana Cloud.

We are seeking Frontend Engineers passionate about data communication and delivering seamless customer experiences. Our tech stack includes TypeScript and React, interacting with backends written in Golang.

What You'll Do:

• Own all aspects of the Session Replay player and investigation workflows, including user interaction, performance, and correctness.
• Lead the design and implementation of complex, stateful frontend systems involving timelines, overlays, large datasets, and partially available data.
• Lead discussions with other teams (Frontend Observability, Synthetic Monitoring, Core Grafana) to integrate replay seamlessly into broader Grafana Cloud product workflows.
• Implement visual designs using clean, reusable components.
• Improve internal tooling, patterns, and shared components.
• Contribute to team growth by interviewing candidates, mentoring engineers, and supporting onboarding.

• Strong experience as a Frontend Engineer, comfortable owning features in ambiguous problem spaces. Ability to work independently is crucial.
• Good understanding of a user-centered software development process, with the ability to build user context and goal understanding to deliver maximum value.
• Ability to transform ideas into working code, including designing solutions, gathering feedback, and prototyping independently.
• Enjoy working on complex solutions, valuing code maintainability, readability, and automation.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting modern web application issues using profilers, debuggers, bundlers, and testing libraries.

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with observability tools (Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, etc.).
• Experience building debugging or developer-focused tools.
• Familiarity with Storybook, Jest, React Testing Library, or Playwright.
• Experience with performance-sensitive UIs (large lists, timelines, media playback).
• Understanding of privacy, security, or access control concerns in frontend applications.

Compensation and Benefits (Germany):

• Base compensation range: EUR 97,000 - EUR 116,441. Actual compensation depends on level, experience, and skillset.
• Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) included in all roles.
• Compensation ranges are country-specific.
