Your mission
-
Build and maintain data pipelines that enable the exploration of fungal biodiversity and unlock the potential of fungal fermentation
-
Develop automated workflows for extracting, processing, and integrating genomic, metabolomic, and functional annotation data from public and internal sources
-
Link compounds, biosynthetic pathways, and biological functions to fungal genomes and metabolomes to accelerate strain discovery and characterization
-
Analyze biological and fermentation data to identify factors that drive target compound productivity and optimize fermentation performance
-
Work with large biological datasets, leveraging bioinformatics tools and databases to generate actionable insights
-
Collaborate closely with scientists, data engineers, and software developers to integrate bioinformatics workflows into our data platform
-
Contribute to the continuous improvement of data infrastructure, automation capabilities, and computational methods for fungal research
Your profile
-
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Biotechnology, or a related field

Hands-on experience with bioinformatics tools, pipelines, and public databases such as BLAST, NCBI, UniProt, KEGG, or similar resources

Proficiency in Python and relevant bioinformatics libraries (e.g., Biopython) for data analysis and workflow development

Experience with database querying, data parsing, API integration, and structured data formats such as JSON and XML

Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git
-
Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting abilities, and problem-solving skills
-
Comfortable working at the interface of biology and data science, with a passion for turning complex biological data into meaningful insights

Team-oriented mindset combined with initiative, reliability, and a hands-on approach to scientific discovery

Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written); German is a plus
