About Us

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) was founded in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein. Since then, IRC has been supporting people affected by political crises, war, persecution, or natural disasters. In 2016, IRC Germany was founded and is active nationwide in the fields of education, career & orientation, as well as protection, legal advice, and participation. We manage approximately 20 to 25 projects simultaneously, sometimes in cooperation with partner organizations. This work is financed by a variety of public and private donors from Germany and abroad.

To support our German Programs team, we are looking for a Student Assistant for Project Management (m/f/d) for German Programs in Berlin, part-time (16-20 hours per week), as soon as possible.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will support grant management, for example, in the preparation of final reports, as well as in the preparation of applications, in compliance with internal and external guidelines and requirements.
  • You will conduct research, for example, on funding opportunities, potential partnerships, or network activities, and prepare simple briefings.
  • You will support partner management and the organization of the annual partner meeting.
  • You will contribute to the documentation and smooth implementation of grant management processes, as well as the compilation of documents for external audits.

Your Profile

  • You are enrolled at a German university or university of applied sciences for the entire duration of the contract.
  • You are studying a subject related to non-profit management or a similar field, and/or have already gained practical experience in project processing and accounting.
  • You are characterized by a strong focus on detail and solution-oriented thinking, and you are conscientious and reliable.
  • You have German and English language skills at a minimum of B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference (https://www.europaeischer-referenzrahmen.de/).
  • You are proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

What We Offer

  • A meaningful task in a team-oriented environment.
  • An hourly wage of €15.
  • Attractive benefits such as a gym membership, subsidy for the Deutschlandticket, shopping vouchers, and, if needed, access to timely and confidential psychological support.
  • 30 days of annual leave (based on a 5-day week) and a generous special leave policy.
  • Flexible working hours and home office options.
  • Training and development opportunities, access to free language courses.
  • Assistance services for people with disabilities, if required.

We look forward to receiving your application (with CV and – if available – references/internship or work certificates) via our online portal (https://theirc.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/External_Careers/job/Berlin-Germany/Studentische-r-Mitarbeiter-in-Projektverwaltung--Deutsche-Programme_JR00001950) – even if you do not meet all the requirements.
