Position Overview
We are seeking a Physicist (f/m/d) for the Institute of Astroparticle Physics (IAP) starting June 1, 2026. This is a fixed-term, 3-year position with 65% part-time employment. The role focuses on data analysis for the world-leading KATRIN neutrino mass experiment. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative research at the intersection of neutrino physics, data analysis, and modern scientific software development.

Your Responsibilities
Your tasks will include:
- Advanced data analysis of highly relevant experimental data from the KATRIN experiment
- Development and optimization of analysis pipelines and workflows, particularly for the search for new physics in KATRIN data
- Maintenance and further development of analysis software, improving the reliability, usability, and performance of analysis tools
- Development of a simulation platform for next-generation differential neutrino mass measurements using atomic tritium (KATRIN++)
- Contribution to scientific publications and conference presentations
- Mentoring students and supporting teaching activities
Your Qualifications
- University degree in Physics with a focus on Nuclear or Elementary Particle Physics (Master's degree), with or without a PhD
- Strong interest in data analysis and computational methods
- Experience in scientific programming (e.g., Python, C++)
- Experience with distributed data processing or software development (optional)
- Ability to work independently and as part of an international collaboration
- Good command of English, both written and spoken
This position is suitable for obtaining a PhD.
